1974 Grumman American AA-1B Tr2 (Super Yankee)

First produced in 1969 using state-of-the-art metal bonding techniques, the Super Yankee embodies many features that are still modern in todays' aircraft.  Two place, side by side seating is optimal for student/ instructor interactions.  Sliding bubble canopy affords best in class in-flight visibility, as well as a cool fighter pilot feeling as you take the controls.  Our aircraft has been upgraded with an approved modification for a 150 HP engine to dramatically improve take-off and
climb performance, as well as provide significantly higher cruising speeds.  Fight controls are beautifully harmonized and have a light and responsive feel.  Ground maneuverability is greatly facilitated by a free castering nose wheel and differential brake steering, much like the latest products from Cirrus and Cessna.  These characteristics will make transitioning to higher performance aircraft a much more familiar experience.
